Two Maple Zen craftsmen measuring a panel at a workbench by a large factory window
Trade and contract

Built to the drawing.
Packed to the tag.

Upholstery for millworkers, designers, builders and hospitality, from a family studio in Maple, Ontario.

We are a family upholstery studio, and our craftsman has built furniture since 1988. We work on your frames or build them, sew in your fabric or ours, and send every section labelled and packed to your drawing tags. Every quotation is priced line by line from your drawings.

Who we work with

The trades we build for.

Millworkers and fixture shops

You build the carcasses. We spring, pad, sew and cover them, and send them back labelled, wrapped and listed by drawing tag.

Interior designers

Headboards, banquettes, wall panels and seating to your drawings and fabric, with a shop drawing back for sign-off.

For designers

Hospitality

Banquettes, booths and runs of guest-room headboards, with one finished sample before the run starts.

Hospitality

Builders and contractors

Built-in seating, window seats and upholstered wall panels, templated on site in the GTA and installed by us.

How it works

How a contract job runs

  1. Day 1

    Send the drawings

The set as PDF or DWG, or a link to it. The revision you want priced, the count and your dates.

  2. Within a day

    Questions come back

What the drawings leave open: section breaks, reveals, fabric yardage by tag, and who supplies what.

  3. Within five days

    A quotation by drawing number

Each line priced against your sheet and tag, unit prices for quantity changes, freight as its own line, and what is and is not included.

  4. Before production

    Submittals and samples

Shop drawings with seam and channel layouts, data sheets and law-label proofs, an approval board for each fabric, and one finished sample.

  5. Production

    Built in your install order

Room by room or phase by phase, a first piece of every new detail for your approval, and photographs before each load leaves.

  6. Delivery

To your shop or the site

Delivered in the GTA by our own team, or packed for your carrier to collect, with a packing list keyed to your drawing tags.

Commercial work

Banquettes that hold a dining room together.

Wall banquettes we made for a Toronto restaurant: one long run along a slatted wall, upholstered in teal, with a seat that stays level and firm from the first service to the last.

The same bench builds a hotel's headboards, a café's booths and a single banquette for a client's kitchen.

Questions

Questions people ask us

Do you upholster on our frames?

Yes. Much of our contract work comes that way: your shop cuts and assembles the carcasses, and we spring, pad, sew and cover them. We can build the frames too, priced as complete pieces.

Can you price from a draft set?

Yes. We price the revision you send, list what the drawings leave open, and price any change in the issued set before we build it.

Do you work with owner-supplied fabric?

Yes. The quotation gives the yardage by tag. Every roll is inspected and logged by dye lot when it arrives, and we flag a fabric that will not take the use it is headed for.

Do you install?

In the Greater Toronto Area, yes, with our own team. Elsewhere your installers set the pieces: we pack them by room and drawing tag and walk your crew through the details.

Can the work leave the GTA?

Yes. We deliver across Ontario, or pack every load for your carrier to collect from our shop. Export paperwork and duties stay with you or your broker.

What happens to our drawings?

They are used only to price and build your project. They stay on our own systems, are never shared or published, and are never run through AI tools.

How do payments work?

A deposit with the order, the next payment when the sample is approved, and the balance as each load is delivered. The quotation sets out the terms for your project.
